Thrapsano Potter’s Festival

The Thrapsano Potter’s Festival is an institution that honors the rich tradition of Thrapsano in the art of pottery. Every year, in our village, we revive the techniques and customs that are passed down from generation to generation, keeping the legacy of Minoan pottery alive.

The celebration includes exhibitions of traditional and modern ceramics, workshops for young and old, presentations of clay-turning techniques on the traditional wheel, as well as musical and cultural events that highlight the special character of Thrapsano.

The aim of the event is to showcase the vibrant cultural identity of the place, to strengthen the continuity of local art and to offer locals and visitors a unique experience of contact with tradition and creation.

The Thrapsano Pottery Festival is a meeting of people, art and history – a journey from the past to the present of ceramic creation, within the authentic environment of Thrapsano, the “heart” of pottery in Crete.
