On Saturday, July 5, as part of the ‘Soil, Water, Fire’ festival, it was held at the Research Center #Knossos, in the villa #Ariadnehis speech Kostis Christakis on the subject of Cretan pottery from 5000 to 1000 BC.
The attendees, including professionals #ceramists, had the opportunity to study vessels and sherds of vessels from the collections of the stratigraphic museum of Knossos.
Vagelio Kyriatzi and Carlotta Gardner, Laboratory researchers #Fitch of the British School of Athens, analyzed the importance of the interdisciplinary approach to the study of ancient #ceramics, emphasizing the contribution of analytical methods of the positive sciences to archaeological documentation. At the same time, Conservator Veta Kalyvianaki presented the basic principles and approaches that govern the #maintenance of pottery, highlighting the complexity and importance of preserving the material #cultural stock.
The event ended with a tour of the premises of the Knossos Research Center #British School of Athens, offering participants an overall picture of #research work carried out in the center.
